James E. White
President & Chief Executive Officer, Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN)
In his current role, White is responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial leadership of DWIHN, a $1B+ public system providing behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disability, and substance use disorder services. He is focused on advancing integrated care models, strengthening provider networks, expanding community-based and preventive care strategies, and aligning public safety and behavioral health systems to improve outcomes.

DWIHN is established
The Detroit Wayne Mental Health Authority transitions to the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network, expanding its scope to include integrated health services.
Crisis Services expansion
Launch of expanded 24/7 crisis services including mobile crisis teams and the Crisis Stabilization Units.
NCQA Accreditation
Achieved NCQA accreditation, one of only a few community mental health authorities in Michigan to earn this national recognition of quality.
COVID-19 response
Rapidly pivoted to telehealth, expanded crisis hotline capacity, and launched community wellness programs during the pandemic.
Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic
Expanded CCBHC designation, strengthening integrated care delivery and bringing more federal resources to Wayne County.
Continuing to grow
Serving 74,000+ members, managing 300+ providers, and investing over $1.1 billion annually in behavioral health, with a vision for even greater impact.
