Eva Garza Dewaelsche, Secretary
President and CEO of SER Metro Detroit, Jobs for Progress. In her position, Ms.Dewaelsche is responsible for directing overall operations for the company’s non-profit workforce development in Michigan and its subsidiary operations nationally including Illinois and Texas. SER Metro Detroit includes a One Stop Career Center/American Job Center that provides comprehensive employment services and occupational skills training programs and supportive services for those that are unemployed and underemployed. Prior to becoming President/CEO, she also worked in several other positions within SER Metro Detroit including Area Manager, School Director and Education Director.
Prior to her employment with SER Metro Detroit, Ms. Dewaelsche worked for Latin Americans for Social and Economic Development and also served the community as a Detroit Police Officer.
Ms. Dewaelsche received her Masters of Education degree from Wayne State University. She currently serves on the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation Board, Comerica Bank Community Development Advisory Council, Wayne County Community Development Entity, DTE Community Advisory Council and several other Boards and Committees.
As a member of the DWIHN Board of Directors, she is also a member of the DWIHN Recipient Rights Advisory Committee and Finance Committee.
