Youth

Who can be a Youth Advocate?
 
Youth who:
  • Are between the ages of 18-25
  • Are residents of Wayne County
  • Demonstrate Leadership Qualities
  • Are interested in a positive change in their community
  • Have received services in juvenile justice, public mental health, child welfare and/or special education
As a Youth Advocate you will:

•    Participate in trainings to learn: Leadership skills, Public Speaking Skills, Group Facilitation skills
•    Become a voice for youth receiving services in Wayne County public human services system
•    Learn skills to train other youth and professionals
•    Partner with decision makers and other youth to create policies and youth friendly services
•    Attend Youth Groups
•    Participate on the Youth Advisory Council
•    Become a Lead Youth Advocate
•    And much more!
 
 

Stakeholders

Youth United is available to support Positive Youth Development activities in your organization and community. Youth United wants to support you by:
  • Creating a change in youth voice for youth in the system
  • Educating youth in the community about services and systems of care
  • Providing resources for the youth in the community
  • Providing Leadership Training for youth
  • Facilitating youth centered projects
Collaborate with Youth United on projects
Youth United will partner with your organization and stakeholders on community service, outreach and different awareness events. Youth United will support youth voice and youth involvement in your projects.
 
Invite Youth United to give presentations or provide trainings
Youth United is available for presentations and training for youth and professionals. Trainings and presentations included the following topics; Partnering with Youth, Leadership, Facilitation, Advocacy, Mental Health, Stigma and more.

Consultation
Youth United is available to advise stakeholders on youth involvement. Set up a meeting with Youth United to share ideas and acquire help with understanding and making decisions on positive youth development activities and creating a youth friendly services.
 
Start a Youth Group
If your organization services youth ages 18-25 in the Wayne County area that are mentally or developmentally disabled, Youth United can help you develop a Youth Group. Youth United will assist you in getting started by training your youth on leadership, advocacy, facilitation, public speaking, and more.
