Mental Health Youth Ambassador Scholarship Available for the Third Year

DETROIT, MI – March 10, 2025 – Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) is proud to announce the third annual DWIHN Mental Health Youth Ambassador Scholarship for high school seniors in Wayne County.

“As we continue this scholarship for the third year, we remain committed to empowering young people who have demonstrated remarkable perseverance in the face of adversity,” said James White, DWIHN President and CEO. “We recognize that mental health challenges can deeply impact a student’s journey, and this scholarship is a way to uplift those who have turned their struggles into strength while pursuing higher education.”

Recognizing the unique challenges and traumatic experiences that today's youth encounter, DWIHN is committed to providing resources and support to help them succeed. This scholarship not only offers financial assistance for educational pursuits but also acknowledges and celebrates the strength and perseverance of our young community members. Over the years, DWIHN has awarded 20 scholarships, empowering students to pursue their dreams in fields such as medicine, social work, law, and political science.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a resident of Wayne County.
Must be enrolled as a 2025 graduating senior at a Wayne County high school.
Must have a current cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Must demonstrate a history of overcoming personal or familial challenges.
Must have a commitment to pursuing higher education, including college, university, trade, or vocational schools.

Students interested in applying should submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or community leader who can attest to their character and resilience, along with a copy of their high school transcript, using the following link: Scholarship Application.

All applications must be submitted by May 23, 2025.
