DETROIT, MI – May 1, 2026 — Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network (DWIHN) announces the highly accomplished legal trailblazer, Dawn Ison, as its interim VP of Compliance. From 2023 to 2025, Ms. Ison had the esteemed honor of serving as the US Attorney of the Eastern District of Michigan, appointed by President Biden.
Ms. Ison is a native Detroiter; a product of Detroit Public Schools; and a proud graduate of Spelman College and Wayne State University Law School. Ison has extensive experience in law as a nationally recognized federal prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney. She has successfully managed high-profile, complex criminal prosecutions.
Before her nomination, she was assigned to the Public Corruption Unit where she directed investigations and prosecuted public corruption by public officials, law enforcement officers, and other federal and state employees. Before joining the Public Corruption Unit, Ms. Ison prosecuted drug trafficking offenses at the highest level in the office’s Drug Task Force Unit.

Dawn Ison will lead the Compliance department of Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network, overseeing over 450 providers adhering to local, state and federal rules, laws and industry standards. The compliance team ensures not only laws are met, but monitors cases of fraud, waste, and abuse within the system.
“With the addition of Ms. Ison, we will continue to ensure that programs and services meet the highest quality and meet standards of a world class system,” said White.
